The government will launch a colon cancer screening programme in the autumn, the human resources minister told public news channel M1 on Thursday. There are 7,500 Hungarians diagnosed with colon cancer per year and around 5,000 patients die of the disease each year, Miklos Kasler warned. The programme will aim to promote participation and its mission can be called completed if it reaches at least 50 percent of the target group, the minister said.
