Localities with limited access to the public transport network are to benefit from a Railway Plus scheme approved by the cabinet on Tuesday. The PLN 6.6 billion (EUR 1.5 billion) scheme aims to extend Poland's railway system to such areas. The new rail links are to connect localities numbering over 10,000 and without railway access with their regional capitals. The programme, running until 2028, will be implemented by local authorities on three levels covering investment, passenger transport management and the protection of railway infrastructure. Its introduction will require changes in laws governing the railways.
