German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier on Wednesday planted a tree in the Polish-German Gardens in Warsaw, an area designed as a symbol of friendship between the two nations with a turbulent history. The German president planted a European hornbeam. Earlier on Wednesday, the German president laid a wreath at the Monument to the Ghetto Heroes and visited the POLIN Museum of the History of Polish Jews. Steinmeier started his two-day visit to Poland on Tuesday.
