Children in the final year of nursery school will enjoy free-of-charge lunches as of January 2019 with primary school students following suit as of September 2019, according to an amendment to the Subsidies Act sponsored by Smer-SD lawmakers and greenlit by parliament on Tuesday. Under the original draft, all the aforementioned children were slated to receive free lunches as of January. However, the lawmakers also approved an amendment proposal tabled by one of the bill's co-sponsors, Smer-SD MP Erik Tomas, postponing the date on which the legislation will come into effect for primary schools to next September.
