Financial administration unveils VAT evasion worth EUR 4 million

August 16th, 2018

Value added tax (VAT) evasion of EUR 4 million has been carried out by an organised group of six people with ties to Bulgarian citizens, Financial Administration (the tax office) reported on Thursday. An organised group of six people - for legal reasons identified only as Jozef H., Vladimir M., Rastislav O., Jan G., Martin B. and Ilyas M. - faces suspicions of committing the crime of tax and insurance premium evasion. "Financial Administration seized the accounts books at a goods supplier, and its customs officers have written minutes and filed motions for VAT and income tax inspections from 2016," said Drahomira Adamcikova from Financial Directorate. If found guilty, the perpetrators will face seven-twelve years in prison.
