The senior governing Smer-SD party will submit bills concerning maternity and parental benefits, as well as measures to help families of elementary school first-graders and an increase of the Christmas pension bonus in the May parliamentary session, Robert Fico, the party's leader, told a news conference following his meeting with trade unionists on Thursday. Fico said he familiarised representatives of the Council of OZ KOVO trade union with the prepared proposals. He added that some other proposals came from their side, including the issue of overtime work. "It's a solution that we view as very elegant," Fico said, adding that they could win support in parliament.
