EU ministers back Czech Rep, condemn Russian interference in espionage scandal

April 19th, 2021

The European Union's foreign ministers have expressed solidarity with the Czech Republic and condemned Russia's interference in an affair that allegedly led to an explosion and two deaths in a Czech ammunition warehouse in 2014. The Czech Foreign Minister Jan Hamacek briefed his EU counterparts at a videoconference, saying the Czech Republic has expelled 18 Russian diplomats, and Russia retaliated by expelling 20 Czech diplomats.
