Environmental activists lodge complaint against Czech govt

April 21st, 2021

The Czech Climate Litigation environmental association on Wednesday lodged a complaint against the Czech government in order to make the ministries deal with the climate crisis, the association's representatives have said in a press release. The petition was lodged by six plaintiffs. The first is the 221-member group as a legal person, joint by the municipality of Svaty Jan pod Skalou, central Bohemia and four individuals complaining to be affected by the climate change in both their private life and career. Many witnesses and experts from the Czech Republic and abroad say the Czech government fails in taking measures that meet the needs provoked by serious impact of the climate change on life, health, rights and property of the complainants. Thus, it breaches its legal obligations stated by the legal order of Czech law and its international commitments, lawyer Martin Madej said on behalf of the group.
