Education minister may lose parliamentary immunity over LGBT statements

April 28th, 2021

A motion to strip the education minister of his parliamentary immunity owing to statements he made on sexual and gender minorities was submitted to the lower house of parliament in February, the newspaper Rzeczpospolita reported on Wednesday. Przemyslaw Czarnek, who was appointed to his post by the ruling Law and Justice party in November, has drawn much controversy over his ultra-conservative views on sexual and gender minorities. His immunity could be waived for saying last June that adherents of "LGBT ideology" were "not equal to normal people," and that people should "stop listening to this idiocy about human rights or equality."
