DK wants ex-Berehove consul to testify on threats to safety of Transcarpathia Hungarians

The opposition Democratic Coalition (DK) on Monday said it will initiate a hearing by parliament's defence and law enforcement committee for the consul who was expelled from Berehove (Beregszasz) to give a briefing on the number of Transcarpathian Hungarians whose safety may be at risk. Ukraine expelled the Hungarian consul last month after hidden camera footage showing him conducting a Hungarian naturalisation ceremony for Ukrainian citizens at the consulate appeared online. Hungary retaliated by expelling a Ukrainian consul.
