Czechs stage petition for Iranian human rights advocate Sotoudeh

March 18th, 2019

A group of about 20 people organised a rally in support of Iranian lawyer Nasrin Sotoudeh, sentenced to 33 years in prison and 148 lashes, outside the Embassy of Iran in Prague and passed a petition demanding her immediate release today. In December 2018, Sotoudeh was punished for her activities in favour of women's rights and efforts to amend the law against the code dictating that women's hair and body must be covered in public. The rally was staged by Amnesty International (AI) and the Czech Women's Lobby.
