Czech students protest against ignoring climate change

March 15th, 2019

Hundreds of students in Prague and other Czech towns joined in the global initiative Fridays for Future today to call on politicians to tackle the climate change and lower emissions, alongside young people in over one hundred countries, inspired by 16-year-old Greta Thunberg from Sweden. The Prague students marched through the city centre, ending the protest on Malostranske Square with speeches by students and their guests from among scientists and academics. Students marched for climate in other Czech towns as well, such as in Ostrava, north Moravia, Olomouc, north Moravia, and Liberec, north Bohemia. The environmental movement Friends of the Earth and Greenpeace as well as about a hundred scientists and academics supported the events.
