The events of August 1968 are a lesson showing that dependence on any undemocratic country is lethal and means the loss of freedom, Czech Senate head Milos Vystrcil said on Friday at a meeting commemorating the Soviet-led invasion of Czechoslovakia by the Warsaw Pact troops 52 years ago. Other speakers from among high officials warned against a repeat of the situation of the then-Czechoslovakia in the present Belarus, where demonstrators have been protesting in the wake of the presidential election.
