Czech Senate approves bill on rules of voting in quarantine

August 20th, 2020

The Senate, the upper house of Czech parliament, approved on Thursday a special bill to enable people quarantined for coronavirus to cast their ballots in the autumn Senate and regional elections. The Chamber of Deputies, the lower house, passed the bill on Wednesday. The bill is now to be signed by President Milos Zeman into law. The new legislation enables those in mandatory quarantine to vote from a car at special points or use the system of special commissions coming to their homes with a portable ballot box. It also reckons with special polling points at health and social care facilities under quarantine.
