Czech schools seek teachers at last moment - press

Elementary school headmasters are still seeking teachers at the last moment as students will turn up for classes within five days, daily Lidove noviny (LN) said on Thursday. "This year, the situation is much more critical compared to the previous years," LN quotes Jana Manova, a headmaster of the elementary school in Sebetov, south Moravia, as saying. According to estimates of headmasters, there is a shortage of thousands of teachers with no improvements in sight. "Within ten to fifteen years, a strong group of teachers will retire, who are pushing the teaching now," LN quotes Miroslav Hrebecky from the EDUin company.
