Czech Republic's rise in new Covid-19 cases slows

January 14th, 2021

The Czech Republic registered 10,854 new Covid-19 on Wednesday, which is one-third fewer than previous Wednesday's 17,739, and the share of positive tests dropped from 45.6 percent to 34.6 percent, data from the Health Ministry show. A total of 70,680 people have been vaccinated against Covid-19 so far. On Wednesday, Prime Minister Andrej Babis estimated the number of those already vaccinated at 70,000 to 75,000. The week-on-week daily increases in new infections have been falling since Sunday. The tests positivity rate, too, is lower than last week, but it has been rising again most recently.
