Czech Republic registers 2,996 Covid cases on Sunday

November 8th, 2021

The Czech Republic registered another 2,996 confirmed Covid-19 cases on Sunday, roughly 2,700 fewer than on Saturday, but 230 more than a week ago, the health ministry said. Hospitals are treating 2,697 Covid patients as against 1,700 a week ago, 400 of whom are in a serious condition. A year ago, the situation in hospitals was worse as there were almost 7,500 Covid patients and over 1,100 in a serious condition. The death toll was also much higher, about 200 a day then. Nevertheless, the Covid-related mortality is rising again. Last week, the Czech Republic saw 30-46 deaths a day and 12 on Sunday.
