Czech owner gets suspended sentence for fatal ropeway accident

A Czech appeals court imposed a binding suspended eight-month sentence with one-year probation on the operator of a cableway conveyor at a Krkonose (Giant Mountains) chalet in which a 38-year-old man died and four were injured in 2013. The convict, Miloslav Jirman, has been ordered to pay a total of 500,000 crowns (EUR 19,190) to the victim's two surviving family members, the court said.
