Czech opposition wants president to report contacts with lobbyists

August 7th, 2019

The Czech centre-right opposition parties want to keep the president on the list of the officials who will have to report lobbyists in a new bill on lobbying, their MPs told CTK on Wednesday. The coalition cabinet of Prime Minister Andrej Babis's ANO and the Social Democrats (CSSD) deleted the president from the list of the lobbied in the bill at the very last moment when approving it last week, news portal Aktualne.cz has written. There was no reason for this deletion, the Pirate, Civic Democrat (ODS) and TOP 09 and Mayors and Independents (STAN) deputies said. Pirate MP Mikulas Ferjencik said the Pirates would propose a change to the bill to return the president to it.
