CSSD MP Birke confirms he was offered to head culture ministry

April 12th, 2021

Social Democrat (CSSD) deputy Jan Birke confirmed that he had been offered the post of culture minister and would accept it, public Czech Television (CT) reported on Monday, while he told CTK that this was a matter of further discussion. Current Culture Minister Lubomir Zaoralek (CSSD) will head the Foreign Affairs Ministry and replace his party colleague Tomas Petricek whom Deputy Prime Minister and re-elected CSSD chairman Jan Hamacek decided to replace. Some cultural institutions have called on Prime Minister Andrej Babis not to replace the culture minister.
