Consumer prices up by average 1.1 pc in monthly terms in January

Consumer prices in January 2019 grew by 1.1 percent on average in month-to-month terms, while the biggest increase of 3.3 percent occurred in the prices of food and non-alcoholic beverages, the Statistics Office has stated. On the other hand, prices for clothing and footwear, transport, postal services, and furniture, household furnishings and regular household maintenance dropped. The growth of food prices was mainly influenced by increased prices of fruit by 11 percent, vegetables - 5.4 percent, and bread and cereals - 5.4 percent.
