Slovakia's military has maintained operability even during its strong engagement in tackling the present coronavirus pandemic, but it must shift its activities from assistance tasks to training, including in international exercises, President Zuzana Caputova said after meeting Defence Minister Jaroslav Nad and Chief of General Staff Daniel Zmeko on Tuesday. "I appreciate the fact that our soldiers -- men and women -- continue to demonstrate their readiness to deal with various crises and helping the public," Caputova said. "However, a situation might occur in which Slovakia will need to face a more complex challenge or various crises simultaneously."
