Individual responsibility as well as that of states and governments is needed to achieve real environmental changes, President Zuzana Caputova said on social media on Thursday on the occasion of Earth Day, while Prime Minister Eduard Heger pointed to the fact that the Earth can survive without people, but people need the Earth. "Today's Earth Day reminds us of how significantly our activities impact the planet and the environment in which we live," Caputova said. "Natural surroundings have become a haven for us in which we've found encouragement in our lives." She added that people have realised their vulnerability and close interconnection with nature during the pandemic. Heger said people were increasingly understanding all the threats brought by the climate crisis and were working to give back to nature many of the things they had taken from it.
