Budaj, Remiasova propose expanding list of commemoration days

August 20th, 2020

OLaNO MP Anna Remiasova along with Environment Minister Jan Budaj on Thursday said their party is proposing to make August 21 a day of commemoration for the victims of the occupation of Czechoslovakia by Warsaw Pact forces in 1968, and to create another such day on June 21 to mark the day on which occupying Soviet troops left Czechoslovakia in 1991. Budaj proposed these exact changes to the list of commemoration days several times as an opposition MP, but to no avail. The minister and MP on Thursday paid homage to the victims of the occupation at the commemorative plaque on Safarik Square in Bratislava.
