Bratislava arena calls for refurbishment before hockey world championship

The Ondrej Nepela ice hockey arena in Bratislava needs repairs worth 2 million euros for Slovakia to host the Ice Hockey World Championship next year, Pravda daily reported on Thursday. Though a recent audit has shown no serious problems that might hinder organisation of the world event, the cooling and ventilation systems need to be repaired and seats and barriers replaced. Even though the arena underwent a reconstruction worth 90 million euros only six years ago, the aforementioned systems have not been replaced for about 20 years.
