Agricultre Ministry ceases wolf hunting, quota for this season met

December 12th, 2019

The Agriculture and Rural Development Ministry has called a halt to the hunting of wolves in Slovakia, with the ban coming into effect at noon on December 12 in all hunting grounds in Slovakia due to the fact that the 2019/20 hunting season quota for wolves has been met. The ministry spokesperson explained that the quota for the current season was set at 35 wolves. According to him, this figure was a result of talks between several state authorities as well as NGOs, with the Agriculture Ministry basing its decision on clear rules and scientific knowledge.
