The alliance of Fidesz and the Christian Democrats increased its seats won in Hungary's general election to 134 -- one mandate above the threshold for a supermajority -- after votes cast by mail were counted by 12pm on Monday, the National Election Office said. With 98.96 percent of the all votes counted, the Fidesz-led alliance boosted its number of mandates from 133. Out of a total of 96,751 valid votes cast by ethnic Hungarians living beyond the borders, 91,660 were cast for Fidesz's national list, 1,113 for radical nationalist Jobbik, 1,099 for opposition LMP, 686 for Socialist-Parbeszed, 492 for Momentum and 368 for the Democratic Coalition, the NVI said. Under election rules, votes cast by Hungarians beyond the borders are considered in the distribution of mandates on a national list. Jobbik's seat tally went down to 25 from 26 as it fell short of votes for the last candidate on its party list.
