1956 monument vandalised in Sopron

A monument commemorating Hungary's 1956 anti-Soviet revolution has been vandalised in Sopron, in western Hungary, the local government said on Tuesday, adding that it resolutely condemned the act. Unknown perpetrators are believed to have poured white paint overnight over the downtown monument erected to mark the revolution's 60th anniversary last year. An investigation is under way.
