Ziga: Situation in Smer-SD unusual, but should not be addressed via media

May 29th, 2019

The situation within Smer-SD is unusual, but it should not be addressed publicly and via the media, Smer-SD vice-chairman and Economy Minister Peter Ziga said on Wednesday in reaction to a call for change from some Smer-SD district functionaries from the Kosice region. Ziga agreed with Prime Minister Peter Pellegrini that the party must make its values clear. "We'll have to define the values of social democracy anew in terms of content, whether it should still be social democracy. I profess this agenda, but there are also party representatives heading in a different direction. There's a need to make it clear; conflicts of opinion might then stop and the party's top representatives will speak in unison," Ziga said.
