Notaries who want to work in the Czech Republic will not have to be Czech citizens, but can have citizenship of another EU or European Economic Area member state, under an amendment to the notary code that President Milos Zeman signed into law today, his office has announced. The Justice Ministry prepared the amendment in reaction to the March decision by the European Court of Justice (ECJ), which said the Czech citizenship condition for notaries was at variance with the agreement on freedom of movement for workers.
