Czech President Milos Zeman defended the NATO mission in Afghanistan at a meeting with his counterparts from other eight NATO countries on Thursday, the head of his office's foreign section Rudolf Jindrak has tweeted. Zeman said that to leave Afghanistan would mean helping to create incubators for new terrorists. He called the NATO mission there real action which sometimes claims the highest price, that is human lives. The first Czech soldier died in Afghanistan in May 2007. Overall, 14 Czechs have been killed there alongside some 3,500 foreign soldiers, including over 2,400 US troops.
