Warsaw mayor, US ambassador unveil plaque dedicated to President Wilson

May 15th, 2019

Mayor of Warsaw Rafał Trzaskowski and US Ambassador Georgette Mosbacher unveiled a plaque dedicated to US President Thomas Woodrow Wilson in Warsaw on Wednesday. Wilson was president of the United States in the years 1913-1921. In his speech to Congress on January 8, 1918, he presented 14 points which were to serve as a blueprint for world peace and to be used for post-WWI peace negotiations. According to the 13th point, "an independent Polish state should be erected which should include the territories inhabited by indisputably Polish populations, which should be assured a free and secure access to the sea, and whose political and economic independence and territorial integrity should be guaranteed by international covenant."
