Warsaw Central Station to be named after Polish composer

January 3rd, 2019

As part of a resolution which declares 2019 as the 'Year of Stanisław Moniuszko', to honour of the Polish composer born 200 years ago, Culture Minister Piotr Gliński has announced that the Central Railway Station in Warsaw will be named after the composer. "This is a remarkable composer and, unfortunately, not fully appreciated in Poland," Gliński told a public broadcaster on Thursday, as he mentioned his best-known operas Halka and Straszny Dwór (The Haunted Manor).
