European Union regulations are needed to eliminate the double standards of food products on EU markets, the Visegrad Group, Bulgaria, Romania, Croatia and Slovenia said at a meeting of V4 farm ministers in Visegrad, north of Budapest. Hungarian farm minister Sandor Fazekas told the press that thanks to coordinated efforts by V4 countries, "even the head of the European Commission has conceded" that the practice of manufacturing different food products under the same label is a problem in Europe. "This is unacceptable, and consumers from Hungary or other central and eastern European countries don't deserve less meat in their meals than consumers in western European countries," he added.
