The statements made by Georgette Mosbacher, the nominee for US ambassador to Poland, are not the official American stance, Deputy Speaker of the Senate Adam Bielan stressed on Monday, referring to her comments on Poland's controversial anti-defamation law. As he added, Polish diplomats have discussed the matter and he believed such statements would not be repeated in the future. Mosbacher was asked in a Congress hearing whether she was familiar with what was happening with regard to anti-Semitism in Eastern Europe. "Yes, I am, Senator," Mosbacher replied. "Unfortunately, it's been sparked by a Holocaust law that Poland passed recently."
