The development of Europe is increasingly defined by economic relations between the Visegrad Group and Germany instead of German-French cooperation, Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto said on Thursday at an event announcing a new development project by German medical device company B. Braun Melsungen's Hungarian subsidiary. Szijjarto noted that during a visit to Berlin last week he had discussed the eastward shift of the axis of European economy with German counterpart Sigmar Gabriel. Germany's trade turnover is 55 percent higher with the V4 than with France and twice as big as the German-UK turnover, he added. Commenting on the development by B. Braun Medical Magyarorszag in Gyongyos in northern Hungary, he said the 30.7 billion forint (EUR 99m) project received 6.1 billion forints non-refundable cash support from the government.
