Stropnicky not to go to Vatican for Cardinal Beran's remains

April 18th, 2018

Foreign Minister Martin Stropnicky will not head the delegation that will repatriate Czech Cardinal Josef Beran's remains from the Vatican back to the Czech Republic as he is ill, the Foreign Ministry said today. Instead of Stropnicky, the delegation will be headed by Culture Minister Ilja Smid (ANO). On Thursday, a special military plane flies to the Vatican. The next day, it will take a coffin with Beran's remains to Prague. After various ceremonies, the coffin will be laid in the Saint Vitus Cathedral in Prague.
