Stats Office: Slovak farmers to harvest 8.6 pc more cereals than last year

Slovakia in 2019 is expected to harvest 8.6 percent more cereals than last year, with the overall crops to reach 2.7 million tonnes, according to an estimate released by the Statistics Office on Wednesday. The Statistics Office has reduced its estimate from June by 5.2 percent. "The second estimate has specified the expectations at a time when rape and most cereals have already been harvested. Meanwhile, harvest of sunflowers, maize and beet still hasn't been launched. An estimate including these commodities will be released in September," said Libusa Kolesarova from the Statistics Office.
