State spending on science to rise further - next minister

April 16th, 2019

The state investments in research will rise in the years to come as well, upcoming industry and trade minister and Government Council for Research, Development and Innovations (RVVI) deputy head Karel Havlicek promised at the assembly of the Czech Academy of Sciences today. These investments must be a priority of every government, he added. The the Czech Academy of Sciences (AV CR) as the biggest research institution in the country is to get up to 6.6 billion crowns from the state in 2021, compared to 5.92 billion this year, Havlicek said. "I suppose that the state spending on research is one of the few (budget) chapters to rise," Havlicek said in his speech at the AV assembly. The national innovation strategy is one of the most significant government documents drafted of late, said Havlicek who is its coordinator.
