Slovakia will not ban certain disposable plastic products until such a measure is definitely approved at EU level, Environment Minister Laszlo Solymos (Most-Hid) told TASR. According to Solymos, the Environment Ministry is preparing to implement a ban, but he wants to wait and see whether something changes in the EU directive. "Once it's all clear, we can quickly prepare a draft," he said. The ministry had declared before that it supports the European Commission's proposal to ban disposable plastic products such as plates, cutlery, straws and balloon sticks. In the meantime the European Parliament has added bags, packaging and fast-food containers made of expanded polystyrene to the original list of banned plastics.
