The opposition Smer-SD party wants the election of a candidate for the post of prosecutor-general to be secret and will propose this in parliament, party leader Robert Fico said on Thursday, adding that Smer-SD has completely ruled out four candidates. "It's a necessary precondition for the election to be democratic and for the best candidate to be chosen," Fico said when explaining the need for the secret vote. He refused to say which candidates have been excluded by his party. In addition, he said that Smer may summon three candidates to its caucus for hearings.
