Slovakia's foreign trade produced a surplus of 8.5 million euros in December 2017, the Slovak Statistics Office reported on Thursday. Total exports amounted to 5.631 billion euros in December, which represented an increase of 5.3 percent year-on-year. Imports grew by 2.5 percent to 5.622 billion euros. Meanwhile, Slovakia generated a foreign trade surplus of 3.189 billion euros for the twelve months of 2017, which was 457 million euros lower than the surplus posted for 2016. Total exports rose by an annual 7.2 percent to 75.065 billion euros, while total imports grew by 8.3 percent to 71.876 billion euros.
