The special banking levy in Slovakia will be scrapped in January 2021, according to the Finance Ministry's bill approved by the cabinet at its session on Wednesday. The draft law follows the signing of the memorandum on cooperation between the government and the Slovak Banking Association back in June. The law on the special banking levy took effect as of January 1, 2012. Its aim was to introduce levies for selected financial institutions to cover potential future financial crises and protect the stability of the banking sector in Slovakia.
