Slovakia elected member of UN peacebuilding commission

The UN General Assembly at its meeting on Thursday (December 19) elected Slovakia and Peru as new members of the Peacebuilding Commission, each for a two-year term of office beginning on January 1 2020, TASR has learnt from Slovak Foreign Affairs Ministry's Press Department. Slovakia will thus for the first time be one of 31 members of the commission, which as main goal of supporting peace efforts in conflict affected countries and is a key addition to the capacity of the International Community in the broad peace agenda.
