The consumption of beer in Slovakia has declined by more than 60,000 litres annually in the past ten years, with relatively cheaper brands being the market leaders at the moment, Hospodarske Noviny daily reported on Monday. The Slovak beer market is being dominated by two major breweries - Heineken, which is based in Hurbanovo (Nitra region) with its cheap brand Kelt, and Topvar from Topolcany (Nitra region), which offers the inexpensive Czech brand Velkopopovicky Kozel. In total, the Slovak market includes some 70 breweries. While the annual consumption of beer stood at 436,000 litres in 2006, it fell to 370,000 litres in 2016, thus declining to the average yearly consumption of 68.3 litres per capita, the daily said. http://www.tasr.sk/indeng.php
