NGOs in the Partnership for Civic Education consider the 1989 Velvet Revolution to be the most important watershed in the modern history of Slovakia, TASR learnt from the Public Affairs Institute (IVO) on Friday. "Courageous and enthusiastic people joined their forces and used their wisdom to remove the repressive totalitarian regime in erstwhile Czechoslovakia, introducing freedom and democracy," the NGOs said in a statement.
