Police have pressed charges against three Slovaks of human smuggling carried out by means of fake marriages abroad with people from Africa, police corps spokesperson Denisa Baloghova said on Tuesday. Two of the three cases were uncovered in Slovakia's Nitra region by a police unit dealing with illegal migration. They concerned a certain Andrea D. and Karol K., who went to Spain to arrange marriages with Nigerian nationals aged 23 and 29. The Nigerians thus acquired the right of permanent stay and free movement in the European Union. The two Slovaks allegedly cashed in 5,000 euros each. Another case involved an Andrea K., who went to Austria to marry a 27-year-old Egyptian national and received 2,000 euros for the marriage.
