The Istanbul Convention (Council of Europe Convention on Preventing and Combating Violence Against Women and Domestic Violence) "isn't on the agenda of the day", Justice Minister Gabor Gal said on Wednesday, adding that he considers the topic to be the Slovak National Party's current political agenda. SNS wants to stop the ratification of the Istanbul Convention and wishes to discuss it at the current parliamentary session. According to SNS, the Slovak constitution "doesn't allow such definitions of partnerships as those anchored in the Convention," and defines matrimony "as a union of man and woman, rather than same-sex partnerships".
