Slovak doctors want average salary to more than double

November 10th, 2011

The average monthly salary of a Slovak doctors ought to go up by EUR 1,900 per month in 2012, according to a proposal presented by the Doctors Trade Union (LOZ) on Thursday. Currently, doctors in Slovakia earn an average of EUR 1,644 per month. The proposal would bring this all the way up to EUR 3,541. "I believe that doctors deserve higher salaries. I'll do my best to fight for their salaries to increase, but let's be realistic here, these requirements aren't attainable," said Health Minister Ivan Uhliarik (KDH).
