Slovak bill aimed at changes in selecting police chief

According to a new draft, the interior minister should appoint Slovakia's police chief following a selection procedure. In addition, the appointment will have to be approved by the parliamentary defence and security committee, and the entire selection process will be accompanied by a hearing of the candidates. In line with the planned changes, the Police Corps president's tenure should be seven years, while the same person will be able to hold the post only once.
